Chrysler Repair: 2005 chrysler 300 Limited power windows/mirrors, 2005 chrysler 300, power mirror

Question
my driver and passenger side power windows stopped working. I just replaced the driver side module and they still don't work. The back ones work fine from both modules. The sametime the windows stopped working so did the power mirrors. please help

Answer
Hi Anthony,
Based on the 300M wiring diagrams from an '02 manual I believe that the reason for the loss of power mirror and the front power windows is the loss of a ground current connection from the switch module in the driver door to a multiwire common ground located under the driver's seat. As I see the power window wiring, the front windows need that specific ground, whereas the rear ones don't. The mirrors need that ground connection too. I would suspect that the black ground wire from the driver's module in the driver door is probably fatigued and disconnected, perhaps in the hinge area as the result of flexing. You could go back to the module, locate the solid color black wire and either test it with an ohmmeter to see if it is grounded to any shiny metal point on the body (reads 0 ohms) OR you could jump a wire from the black wire to a shiny metal point on the body thus creating a new ground path and see if that restores the missing functions. I assume the '05 300 Limited is the 300C body which was new that year, but I believe the concepts used in the 300M for these switch controls apply similarly. Of course there are no "guarantees" I am correct, but given that the windows all run from a single fuse, the ground current path interruption is the most logical alternative explantation. If am correct the easiest solution would be to put in a new ground wire from the switch-thru the hinge-to any good ground nearby as it would likely be difficult to fish out the existing black wire from the multiwire harness that goes into the door.
