Chrysler Repair: 1999 Chrysler Cirrus Lxi ABS light, chrysler cirrus, 1999 chrysler cirrus

Question
Hello,

My abs lights come on after I brake and sometimes they come on after I start the car.  There is a sound (I'm assuming it's the abs system) that used to happen if I hit a patch of ice, now it comes on more frequently when I brake.  I've had the rear brakes, drums, calipers all replaced last year. Any suggestions?

Thank you verrry much.

Answer
The best way to check out the system is with a diagnostic code reader which interfaces with the ABS control unit and ask about any faults it has noticed. Then that will help to determine quickly what is wrong, if anything. The light coming on when you start the vehicle is correct and should last for about 5 seconds. It coming on while you are moving, after braking, is a sign that for some reason it is not coming into play. It doesn't mean there is a risk that the brakes will fail, only that the abs function will not be added to the normal braking system' effectiveness.
