Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Sebring Conv.Rear window breaks spontaneously?, chrysler sebring, wires cable

I just purchased an 04 sebring convertible. I realized when I got it home there was a couple of pieces of tape attached to the wires (cable) that runs to the rear window. I asked the sales person and they said just remove the tape however the cable was disconnected so I connected it. I put the rear defrost on and noticed it was clear but the defrost wasnt turning off automatically so I switched it off. when I did the whole back window cracked and fell apart. the other issue is leaking back windows. any help? chrylser says they havent heard of this before but I called around and another dealership said there is problem with the wires and it causes an arc affect which causes the window to break. my dealership says there is no way that would happen. I have extended warranty which would cover the wiring if that was the problem that caused the break. have you heard of this before?also no one I know that has same car has ever had problem with leakage.

Hi Martin,
I have not heard of that phenomenon. I would talk and get a written statement from the dealership that said they were aware of this and then use that statement to put in a claim. I haven't had that much experience with questioners about the late model Sebring Converts so I probably am not the best person to ask. Why not try Kevin, the other 'expert' as he works at a dealership.
