Chrysler Repair: Convertible Rear Window Question, chrysler sebring, liquid silicone

Question
Roland Please help.  I have a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertable.  Due to the recent rain storm the convertable top is now seperated from the rear glass window at the bottom which leaves a huge gaping hole.  I have tried liquid silicone bit it is not sealing it.  What can I do?

Answer
Hi Kandi,
I have not personally had experience with convertible tops, so I can't give you 'expert' advice. My suggestion would be to go to a shop that specializes in upholstery/convertible top repair/replacement and discuss the alternatives. The manual only shows how a new window is inserted, sold already in a surrouning panel of cloth and how to put that in place of the original panel. That is one approach. Whether the shop will have another fix that is less costly/drastic is uncertain. I have the manual and can xerox the pages for you if you need them for the repair. You might check at several different shops as they may have different ideas.

PS Use the 'thank/rate' tab below to get back to me without having to wait for me to be available to take a question. There is a space for comments to which I will respond. If this is a helpful answer I would appreciate a 'yes' at the part about a 'nomination'

Hi Kandi
I hope everything works out with the rear window fix.  Please let me know by using the 'thank/rate' tab below.
While you are there, if I might ask a favor: where it asks about a 'nomination for expert of the month' I would appreciate your entering a 'yes'. I am in a close race for that honor so every vote counts!
