Chrysler Repair: Dodge Dynasty 3.3L V-6, fuel pressure regulator, dodge dynasty

Question
QUESTION: I am not sure if you can help but all ask my 1991 dodge dynasty looses power at beltway speed and bogs down i pull over off the road the engine never quits when this does happen i feather the gas and after a few min it is ok i did notice when i put the hood up to check on the cause i hear aloud suction of air at the air filter this last for a few min also then stops and engine starts to run smooth
fuel filter has been changed 2 times any help you could give me i thank you

ANSWER: Hi Bill,
That sounds like a vacuum hose that connects from the valve cover to the air cleaner may be the source of the sound. It is possible that the pcv valve that connects the valve cover to the intake manifold may be stuck shut (check that the ball inside the valve moves freely). Or possibly some other vacuum hose attached to the intake manifold has come loose. I would remove the air cleaner (noting all its hoses hidden underneath, etc. so you can get it back the same way) and do a visual inspection of all such hoses. Do that first, and if that doesn't reveal the cause then using the ignition key to get any fault codes stored in the engine controller might be helpful. But because of the unusual noise that has to be related to the intake manifold vacuum sucking in air I would start with all its affiliated hoses.

QUESTION: thanks Roland this  is the 3rd time you have helped me going back to 2004 could this be related to the map sensor which is

Answer
HI Bill,
Earlier this month you asked me a question about a problem with you vehicle. Now I need to ask a favor of you. I am competing for the honor of being the "Expert of the Month" for December. You can help me by going the the 'thank/rate' tab below and look for the question that asks if you think I should be so-honored. If you would select the 'yes' option I would be most appreciative. Please do this before 6pm CST tomorrow, New Year's Eve when the competition ends. I wish that your Chrysler vehicle is running well and gives you good service in the New Year!
Roland

Hi Bill,
The map sensor has a port that is directly sensing the vacuum level in the manifold so it would have to be loose in its attachement or cracked to be a source of a vacuum leak. It does have an electrical connector however but that would be unrelated to a vacuum issue. I see no hose attached to it. There is a vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator nearby.

PS Thank you for the evaluation and nomination.
