Chrysler Repair: 97 Grand Voyager in limp mode: code 755., speed sensors, grand voyager

Question
I have a '97 Grand Voyager that is in limp mode. Also, if it sits for awhile, it kills the engine if I shift into drive. To get it to move, I have to put it into reverse for a couple of feet and then it will go into drive without stalling. I replaced the filter, fluid and the speed sensors to no avail. I get 2 codes; 0700 and 0755. There was some metal dust on the pan magnet and output speed sensor. Is it toast?

Answer
Hi Mark,
Dust is probably not the same degree of concern as "debris" in the pan would be. The 700 code just recognizes the presence of a another tran specific code in the memory.  And the 755 code does not of itself carry the need for a rebuild. It says there is something wrong with the 2/4 solenoid which is in the solenoid box located on the side of the transmission that faces the front of the vehicle. I would be inclined to try to get some positive references to a local non-franchise transmission shop that has experience with the Chrysler ETAX and ask them to work through the 755 troubleshoot procedure which is pretty straight forward according to my manual. If they don't have it or you want to try it let me know and I can xerox and postal mail it to you.
Best of luck on avoiding a rebuild prematurely.

Thanks for the response. I'd be willing to take a shot at troubleshooting it, how do I get a copy of the procedure?

Just send me a response that lists your postal mailing address.
