Chrysler Repair: Intermittent loss of air bag, abs, power window, ac: 98 LHS body, chrysler concorde lxi, 1998 chrysler concorde

Question
i have a 1998 chrysler concorde lxi with an intermittant
problem as follows ---- while driving, the air bag, brake and abs dash lights come on --then the traction on and
traction off lights come on -- in a few seconds, all lights
go back off
while the lights are on, the climate control, power windows
and turn signals do not work
when the lights go off everything goes back to normal

there does not seem to be any pattern to when it occurs,
but the sequence is always the same

thx

Answer
Hi Ken,
All the systems showing strange behaviors are powered out of the ignition switch to several fuses in the box behind the dash. The power coming to the specific ignition switch section comes from fuse J (40 Amp) in the power distribution box under hood just behind the radiator on the driver side of the car. So take a look at that fuse to see if it might have a subtle crack in the wire that causes it to 'open' spontaneously, and then close. If that looks ok I would suspect the ignition switch itself being intermittent. You could test that theory by putting a voltmeter on one of the contacts of fuse #8 behind the dash while you are driving, and if when the symptoms occur you find that the voltage on that fuse is gone, that would suggest the ignition switch is the cause and needs to be replaced, To get to the fuses you open the driver door and remove the end cap of the dash to reveal the fuse box. If you don't have a voltmeter, you could jiggle the ignition switch slightly and see if when the symtoms are present that cause a correction of the problems.
That is my best guess at this point. Let me know what you learn, please.
