where is the fuel fitler located on a 1996 neon

Hi Libbie,
The fuel filter on the car is on top of the fuel pump and it is part of the pressure regulator unit. You probably have to lower the fuel tank to get to it. I wouldn't worry about changing it unless you have proof that the fuel pressure of the system is too low for operation. There is a prestrainer on the pump, and then this combined pressure regulator/filter on the top. But there is no milage recommendation as to when to change it, either, so I would forget about it.
