Chrysler Repair: Windshield Wipers Plymouth Voyager 94, plymouth voyager, pivot screw

Question
Windshield wipers on my 1994 plymouth voyager stopped working. You can hear the motor working when you turn them on, but they don't move. It's not the fuse... where to next?

Answer
Hi Bruce,
There is probably a linkage problem between the motor and the wiper arm mechanism. A nut on the end of the motor shaft may be loose.
Here is the procedure for getting to and inspecting the mechanism:
Remove wiper arms, rocking the tip of the are off the stud
Open the hood
Remove cower top plenum grille.
Remove hoses from hose connectors.
Remove cowl chamber plastic screen.
Inspect mechanism attaching arm mechanism to motor. If you nee to remove motor:
Remove wiper pivot retaining screws
Push pivot down into chamber
Remove nut from wiper wiper motor output shaft (this nut may be loose and that is the cause of your problem)
Disconnect wiper motor wiring harness
Remove mounting screw and nuts from wiper motor
Remove wiper motor

When reassembling, tighten the motor mounting screws and nuts to 5 to 6 foot pounds of torque
Tighten pivot screw to same torque
Tighten retaining nut on the motor shaft to 8 foot pounds.
