Chrysler Repair: Cant get air to windshield for defroster, vacuum line, air trap

Question
When I turn the air trap switch to be on defrost for the windshield, the air keep coming out from the trap on the front of the dashboard (in my face).  What can I do with that?

Hi Mick,
I can't be sure because you didn't tell me the year or model of the vehicle. But if it is from about '95 and newer it is an electical actuator of the mode door that isn't doing its job or the door is jammed. If it is pre-'95 it is due to a vacuum line that runs from the power brake cannister hose thru the firewall to the control which is disconnected or cracked. However it still depends upon the specific year and model. But most likely this is a vacuum line disconnect problem as that is the more common cause of such a failure. So find that line in the engine compartment and check it out.
