Chrysler Repair: Cirrus 2.5L v6 Limp mode, solenoid pack, independent garage

Question
I have EXACTLY the same problem with my Cirrus as Brenda.  Same behaviors.  I am a shade tree guy as well.  I did have the tranny resealed as it was leaking.  Tech said inside looked good and clean.  I also had solenoid pack replaced.  I read the codes from the ingnition switch and reading the flash pattern on the check engine light.  It does show an EGR issue (cant find any problem there).  Help would be great!

Answer
Hi Derryl,
I would be hard pressed to find Brenda's question without a date record, but in any case I suggest that you get a full readout via the underdash plug which will access the transmission controller which is usually (depending upon year) not accesses via the check engine light (only powertrain codes can be retrieved that way). You might get a free readout at an Autozone parts store, or for around $40 at an independent garage. Once you get the four digit code let me know what it is and we'll go from there. The numbers are 4-digit preceeded by a P, unless you have a '95 which may have a 6-pin body link connecter under the dash and that would be a two digit code. In '96 the OBD-codes (4-digit) became the standard. The only way to make progress is to get the code that caused the trans to go into limp mode.
