Chrysler Repair: UK Mk1 Chrysler Neon 1999 - Key Fob Programming, chrysler neon, key fob programming

Question
1999 Chrysler Neon - United Kingdom - Mk1 Model (1996-1999)

Hi Roland, I have a working key fob for my Neon. I have purchased a spare key fob, and I need to program it to work with my Neon. How can I do this using my existing working fob?

Many thanks for your help.

Jon.

Answer
Hi Jon,
I have the '97 manual and it describes the procedure this way:
1. Retrieve the programming line from the upper edge of the passenger side cowl trim panel. The RKE programming line is a green wire with a red bullet connector. (I imagine you will find this by looking under the instrument panel and search the upper edge of the panel that is adjacent to the where the passenger's leg is adjacent. If you have a right side drive vehicle I would wonder if it might be adjacent to the driver's leg instead?)
2. Using a jumper wire, ground the RKE programming line.
3.Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
4.Press any button on the transmitter to set the code. The locks will cycle to confirm programming. It there is a second transmitter it must be set at this time. (I don't know if this refers to the one you already have or not. You may have to experiment). Press any button on the second transmitter and wait for the door locks to cycle to confirm programming.
5.Disconnect the programming line from the ground. This returns the system to normal operation.
8. Replace all removed components. Return programming line to original position. Check for system operation.
Please let me know if this works or not for you and where you found the line to be.
Roland
