I seem to be having the same problem with my Cirrus (crank sensor failing), but cannot get any error codes from my car, even with the ignition test.  I am only turing it "on" to the first stop and then off in the sequence suggested -- is there a trick to it?  Thank you!

Hi Sarah,
The positioning trick is from "off" to "run" (where the key is when you are driving it), and you have to do "on-off-on-off-on" in less than 5 seconds elapsed time, and of course leave it in the "on" position. It may not work, as that was the year of transition from the old to the new system of codes. You may have to get a readout at a shop, or for free at some Autozone parts stores, if you can't get the blinking of the check engine light. Let me know what codes you get, by number and name if possible.
