Chrysler Repair: Oil pressure light comes on when brakes applied: van, chrysler town and country, brake warning light

Question
I have a 2000 chrysler town and country and lately when I am driving and I put on the brakes the oil light will flash and ding, when I accelerate again it goes off

Answer
Hi eion,
That is an interesting coincidence with several possibilities.
I would check the oil level in the engine to begin with. Is it in the hatcked area when the engine is cold and on level ground? If not, then add oil to bring it to the level.
If the oil level it OK and if the warning light and ding happens when you just touch the brake lightly without causing the van to change its level (dip down in the front, rise in the rear) then I would suspect an electrical interconnection between the brake warning light circuit and the oil pressure warning system that is inappropriate. I notice that the oil pressure warning lamp and the brake actuation swithch have wires that are side by side on the circuit board of the "message center". Those two wires might be shorted together or the circuit board might have a short connection between the two traces for thoses wires on the board. So my next search would be to remove the message center and check the plug in at pins 8 and 9 to see if they are shorted together such that when you step on the brake you are not only causing the brake warning lamp to go on but also the oil pressure lamp and ding. If that were the case, take a look at the brake warning lamp, for it should be coming on also with the oil pressure lamp.
There are thus several things to check. Let me know what you learn, please.
