Chrysler Repair: 89 Chrysler Infinity Speakers Problem, chrysler lebaron, 1989 chrysler lebaron

Hi Roland,
I have a 1989 Chrysler LeBaron 2.5 turbo convertible.  I am at a lost on the speaker system...    ...front passenger side works fine  (plenty of volume), however driver side, and rear speakers fail to amplify sound beyond a whisper.  I have try changing radios, as well as trying other known working speakers without any success. Any insight, and suggestions on what to try next would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.  Joe

Hi Joe,
I would probably return to the original infinity radio and then try moving the passenger side speaker to the driver side to see if the problem remains the same or if now the driver side is good. That way you can begin to separate a speaker problem from a radio problem question. Also, if you aren't the original owner and there have been radio/speaker/wiring changes made in the past then you really are flying blind. I have the '89 wiring diagrams which you might find helpful, at least as to understanding what the original wiring was. And of course you need to be aware that the Infinity System changed as time went by so unless you are working with all-'89 equipment there may be some incompatibilities. Let me know a mail address and I'll xerox copy and snail mail six pages to you that shows the wiring as it was originally.
