Chrysler Repair: Chrysler Concorde 1995/3,5L timing belt replacement, timing belt replacement, chrysler concorde

Question
Hello Roland!
Thank you for very usefull advise how to change water pump and harmonic balancer, so I did it very succesfully. But you also suggested to change timing belt. When I bought a new water pump I realized that diameter of belt roller was bigger than it was on the old water pump. And I changed water pump in store with smaller belt roller. Than I was trying to put a new timing belt, but it appeared to be longer, so it had 202 teeth. I counted my old timing belt teeth and I found 200. I still looking for changing my timing belt, but every store has 202 teeth timing belt for replacement for my Chrysler Concorde 1995/3,5L engine. What do you suggest to do, how to separate and chose right timing belt (with 200 teeth)?

Answer
Hi Vladimir,
This is the first time I have heard of this problem. Is there a Chrysler dealer near you with a parts department who could tell you the history of this belt length change? It is possibly the case that the smaller roller is for the shorter belt only so you may have to ask the store where you bought the pump to contact the rebuilder (I assume the pump may have been rebuilt so they may still have the old one?) to try and get the larger roller back. Or you could buy the larger roller from a dealer parts department or if worse comes to worse see if you can find one on a wreck.
Those are my suggestions. I would be pleased to learn what you find out.
Roland
