Chrysler Repair: 97 Grand Voyager Power Window Regulator Replacement, plymouth grand voyager, power window regulator

Question
Hi there,

Had a problem with our passenger side window, 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager. Went down ok today, but would not come back up. Pulled door panel. Tested switch and motor ok, but cable crimped and unwound off regulator drum mechanism (slipped off somehow). Unable to straighten cable and put back on drum unit. I see several replacement units online that come with complete motor, track and cable. Any idea how tough to install? For now I have the window just propped up in the door. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Kevin ...NJ

Answer
Hi Kevin,
I have a '93 shop manual for the vans which probably is identical for your '97. It shows how to remove the whole mechanism, or how to just remove the motor and thus separate the motor from the drum. It is not a highly complex task but it helps to have the instructions. I would be pleased to xerox and postal mail you the pages. You might want to check with the dealer and on line to see if you can get new cables with or without drum,(and whether the track is also an integral part of that unit or can it be separated and reused) and thus save by not having to also buy the motor and the track. So give me a postal mailing address if you want the pages.
