Chrysler Repair: transmissions, jeep grand cherokee, chrysler cars

Question
I HAVE A1993 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4.0 AUTO TRANS    THE TRANS WILL NOT RUN IN OVERDRIVE BETWEEN 52 AND 60 MPH NO MATTER HOW YOU HOLD THE ACC. ANY IDEAS?

Answer
Hi Angela,
I don't claim any expertise with Jeep vehicles. Is there any chance that the auto trans is the same as those that are used in the Chrysler cars? The most common one for Chrysler is an electronically controlled 4 speed automatic where they top gear is labelled 'OD'. If it is the same transmission that would be good to know.
Are you saying that it will run in OD below 52 and above 60 but not in between? or are you saying that it won't go into OD until you get to 60?
About the only thing I know about the Chrysler trans if this sort of behavior occurred would be that its output speed sensor may be going bad. You would also know this by the speedometer being flakey or not working at all.
But I am just guessing about your Jeep which may be intirely different.
Let me know if you  have any more info about the trans or can clarify my uncertainty about what is really going on.
