QuestionCar dies when ideling and backing up and when stoped with the A/c engaged. Backing up even with the air conditioner off.
The carburetor has been rebuilt 4 time by different persons. Then i had the engine totally rebuilt and this dieing thing has been for the last 9 months. With the air conditioner engaged driveing stright it is fair but not good.Turning into or out of a parking spot with or with out the air conditioner running make NO difference. The enging dies with A sharp jolt. The carburetor # is 743, for got who made it. Liveing in California i must have the correct carb. Is this problem hope less? Should i think another carb? or should i get rid of it? I have invested in the car some $ 6,000.00 dollars and cant handle much more, BUT love the car.1984 Chrysler New YorkerE Class 2.6 liter engine
Answeryes,Austin I feel your pain !!!The only mechanic that can
fix that problem is goen to be some old guy like me that
works or had worked for chrysler back in the day of the
mikuni carburator on the good old 2.6l.Those things were so
hard to fix,it was like a mix between carb.&injection !!
did any of the fantastic 4 who were paid to fix it
find anything wrong with it,did they make it worce !
Did the guy who "totally"rebuilt your engine? did he do a
perfect job?A new carb may fix the problem>>or you would
have a 6,600$car that is worth 400$,If you took it to the
dealer would they look at it,if so tell them they got
one hour,cause thats all your goen the spend !! tm.
