Classic/Antique Car Repair: Packard 200 51, Packard, weatherstrip

Question
Good evening Mr. Russel,

I am writing on behalf of my cousin who has an even worse knowledge of the english language as I do.

He got from his deceased grandpa a 1951 Packard 200 4 door with manual gearbox blue metallic. He is restoring it now and he is need of lots of parts. He has the "Kanter" catallogue who indeed has many parts but he told me that his biggest issue is related to the weatherstrips. Engine, gearbox are fine (he even made some parts by himself). he told me that he heard some information by other brazilian collectors / restaureurs that complete weatherstrips kits are available in the US. Unfortunately we were unable to find them. Can you please enlighten us on that?

Thanks in advance, and greetings from Brazil,

Augusto

Answer
Hello Augusto,

Hello from the USA! You're English is excellent! I'm sure your knowledge of English is much better than my knowledge of either Portuguese or Spanish, your native language.

I'm also gratified to hear you are preserving the fine Packard automobiles, one of the best ever made!

There are 2 sources for your weatherstrips. Steele Rubber Products produce an extensive variety of weatherstrips for all vintage cars. I'm sure they could help you with your Packard. In the remote case that Steele can't help you, please contact any of the US clubs for Packard's International. They offer historical, technical and parts assistance for their members. I'm sure they could help you and your cousin also!

Best of luck restoring this wonderful car!

Bob
