QuestionI have a 67 Corvair with a flat-6 110HP air cooled engine.
Sometimes in very cold weather I can hear one of the hydro-lifters ticking. It will tick for a while then smooth off when warmed up. That's sometime just a minor thing with Corvairs, and not really the problem I am having, I just needed to point that out.
So, the other day, I started it up and it had no noise upon starting, then when it warmed up it had a slight bit of a steady ticking kind of skreeching noise. I checked all bearing on idle pulley and blower bearing and all is good with them. It almost sounds like it could be a squeeky belt, if it were not for the ticking in the back drop. (Belts just a few months old and I checked them, and they are not making the noise.)
It still continues to do this. Start it up, all is good, then in 10 minutes it starts to do it again.
I was going to try that Rislone, and see if it will helps with this issue.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

AnswerI would not use an additive. Take a length of heater or garden hose about 3 foot long. Place one end in your ear and the other end search the engine compartment while the noise is present. The hose will act as a stethoscope and help you pin point the noise. It works, try it.
