Classic/Antique Car Repair: Air in the diesel line?, leyland sherpa, two minuets

Question
Hi Brad,
I just bought a 76? Leyland Sherpa b series diesel and it looks great. Before I bought it it the engine was working great but I sent it to the body work man who also unstuck the clutch. He drove it for about two minuets and parked it where it died. There seems to be some air in the lines but this was not a problem initially. The air seems to be only in the line from the filter to the injectors but no matter how i bleed it it just keeps comming.Have I overlooked something? Could there be another problem? I hope that you can help and I thank you in advance.
Jason

Answer
Jason, air can only enter a system in an area that is not pressurized. That said I would check the inlet lines from the fuel tank to make sure that when the pump was pulling fuel from the tank that they are not sucking air. I have never worked on this particular truck but check to see if there is a lift pump in the fuel tank or near the tank. These are usually low pressure pumps that deliver fuel to the high pressure injector pump.
