Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1965 Ford Mustang, power steering, mustang

Question
First, thank you for taking the time to help out.
I am rebuilding this old Stang. It has power assist with an Eaton pump. Could you please explain how I can get the front seal out so it can be replaced. This is the seal rite behind the pulley. Again, thanx for your time.
cheers
Brad

Answer
Brad,

Are you asking about the seal on the power steering pump? Or the front seal on the oil pan? Some seals must be pressed out with a press or sometimes can be removed with an object slightly smaller than the seal by useing a hammer. Regardless, you will have to remove the pump and have the pully/bearing pressed off. A well equiped autoparts house can do this for you for a small fee. Then the seal can be replaced. If the seal doesnt leak to bad you might be able to use a very small amount stop leak,Ive heard this works well but have never tried it myself. I hope this helps...
