Classic/Antique Car Repair: voltage regulator installation, ford galaxy 500, 1964 ford galaxy 500

I installed a generator and voltage regulator on my 1964 ford galaxy 500, but my regulator keeps going bad. I heard you have to cross something out to make it work. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

My first question would be "is it overheating and are the wires melted or damaged"? If you are getting fusing of the wires, there is a good chance you have a bad ground. Even if this is not the case, check and re-ground the ground-wire tightly. If you are use the original wiring, change the wire our and put in new wire of the proper gauge.
