Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1955 chevy p/u Starter Problems, torque starter, stroker engine

Question
I have a 55 chevy with a 383 stroker engine running a 477/480 lift cam. My problem is that I can start the engine when it's cold, but after I've driven it a while, say 30 to 45 minutes, and turn the truck off, it won't do anything. Won't turn over or click or anything. It's like it's dead. If I let it sit for a couple hours and then go out and try to start it, it cranks over right away. The starter is a new rebuilt starter and I pulled it off after I had the problem and took it back and had them check it out again and I was told that running headers in it might be causing the starter to heat up, but I put a starter wrap on the starter that I purchased from Jeg's and it still does the same thing. I have a new battery that has 690 ca and 580 cca and also put new cables on. I ordered a high torque starter, but haven't recieved it yet. I just want to make sure that my starter probelms will go away if I put the high torque starter on. If there's something else I can check out, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Ronnie

Answer
Hi Ronnie:
Your problem is definitely a starter overheating. And headers could be help cause this, but you are on the right track to solving this problem. There is no guarantee, the high torque starter will solve it, but there is a good chance it will.
