Classic/Antique Car Repair: witeimpala, brake light switch, fuse block

Question
I have a '67 Impala. The brake don't work. All the writing is rubbed off the fuse box, so I don't know which fuse is which, although I tested them all and they were good. All the other lights work fine. Any ideas?

Answer
If your bulb is good.  Not new, but good.  Make sure.  Find the brake light switch and see if you have voltage there when the pedal is pushed.  The switch must be close to the master cylinder, in the output line.  If you have power ther, then do the same thing at the bulb socket.  If no power, then there is a break in the line somewhere.  Use a volt meter with a needle at one end of the lead.  Ground the other end.  With the needle end, you can push it through the insulation to see if you have voltage along the wire.
Now, if you don't have power at the brake light switch, then you have to trace it back to the fuse block.  But first, make sure you have voltage going into the bake light switch.  If the power goes in and not out, then it's the switch.
At the fuse block, make sure you have voltage going into each fuse and out of each one.  Those fuses can fool you.  They may look good, but they have no continuity.
Hope some of this helps.
The other thing you could do is find a chevy car club and join it if you have to.  They will have all the answers and you will have more fun with your car.
