Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1972 Chevy Caprice Headlight Issues, 1972 chevy caprice, chevy caprice

Question
Hi,
I have a 1972 Chevy Caprice and what is going on is that my headlights aren't working right.The outer dual action lamps switch normal from low to high,but the inner high beam lamps don't work at all.I took the two wire leads that connect from the fuse block and followed them through the fire wall and noticed that the previous owner had took the high beam wire which is light green and soldered it into four other light green wires and wrapped it in black tape.Okay,I cut the wire there and cut the low beam wire also and checked them both with a test light and noticed that when you connect either the low or high beam wire to the dual action lamp it works,but when you take either wire and connect it to the high beam lamp it doesn't do anything.Also,I thought that the dual action lamp wire would always have constant power in order to switch from low to high,but it doesn't.When it is disconnected from the lamp and you switch it to high there isn't any power running through it.PLEASE HELP!
Take care!

Answer
Anthony;
HI I would forst get the head lamps to work normally, than find the hot wire to lamps,now get a  wire thats   4 or more ft.   ,etc. woth clips on the ends find the wire that has the juice when you put the hi beams on and hook up one hi beam if they do work than run a second wire to the other hi beam. tape up all the mess that was made and tape and wire up the rest properly. ok not to bad. use a test lamp.
