Classic/Antique Car Repair: fuel pumps, chrysler newport, fuse box

Question
hey there, im having some issues with the fuel system in my 72 chrysler newport.
i just put a new intake and 4 barrel carb on. it fired up fine. around 2 ks into it it stopped getting fuel. the fuel pump(mechanical) is around 60km old. i did notice putting it on that the lines were reversed comparing it to the old one, no big deal, i just swapped the lines over.i checked the pump with my finger while someone cranked it over a few times, and it doesnt seem to be pumping at all. Now what i think i want to do is swap over to an electronic pump. what do i need to know about changing from mechanical to electronic?    thanks for your time.....

OK good move-  you will need to get a block off plate so you remove the old pump and put a plate over the hole. now you will mount the pump in he rear some place-where you have room, etc, and as far as the voltage you can have it hooked up to the fuse box to a fuse that is on only when the key is on. Or you can just run a on-off switch  on the dash or under it, as this way it is like a alarm system as the car would drive about 25 feet than die out as of no fule.so it is a built in safty switch. and you might have to put a  fuel regulator in line with it but thats not much.  ok
