Classic/Antique Car Repair: Replacing water pump for 1951 Ford pickup, ford factory, water pumps

Question
We have broken 2 new water pumps for this vehicle without even getting to install them, and have just received a third one.  The diagram that came with it isn't a very good one, as the numbers are very blurry.  Do you know where we can find a decent diagram showing proper measurements so we don't apply too much pressure? Thank you.

Answer
This sort of information is found only in the Ford Factory Shop Manual.  You need to contact one of the automotive literature dealers to order one.  The one I use is Ed Faxon in Riverside CA.  You can contact him at www.faxonautolit.com

You didn't say which engine the truck has but the manual might be different for the two engines, so be sure to tell them which one you have.

The part number you should be getting is OHA-8501B if it is a 6 cylinder engine, or EAB-8501A for the right side, EAB-8502A for the left side on the V8.  Make sure they are sending you the right pump - I don't understand why they should be breaking on you.
