Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 biscayne starting problems, 64 impala, selonoid

I was browsing through your site and found that a 64 Impala was having starting problems. He said that when he would try to start the motor it would turn over but then the starter would click. I am having identicle problems. I just purchased this car and it had a brand new alternator and we changed the voltage regulator but still the problem persists. I'm wondering if you remember that problem from before and help point my nose in the right direction. If it helps, when i put the car in gear the lights dim. But as i slow down almsot to a stop they return to their normal brightness. Thank you for reading this and if u need more information just ask

 If you turn the key and nothing happens  it is prob. the selonoid. if the battery is good, and if you try to jump start it with a good car battery with your battery and you still get a click, than it is the starter or the selonoid.   ok ....
