Classic/Antique Car Repair: 64 Nova rearend gears, rearends, rearend

I have a 64 Nova that i am going to replace the rearend in. My question is this. In 64-67 novas the rearend had the drop out third member for the ten bolt rears. The later ten bolts had just the removable rear cover. Are the gears the same in both rearends or do they require a different type ring and pinion for the two different styles of carriers?

  HI ; I  would  stick with the right years as far as the gears go,  I never ran across this question , I would take the old gears and match them up with a 10 bolt set and if they are the same than they will work, but check them real good  and use new shims .
