Classic/Antique Car Repair: antirattle window strips, heavy gauge, stiff wire

Question
The antirattle strip replacement I have is to be attached to the inside door panel with heavy gauge staples, but they must go thru thin metal at the top of the panel. Is there a special tool for this, or do I drill small holes and then just insert the staples and bend them over? thanks, TG

Answer
The way I do this is to re-use the existing holes.  I just find the right size staples or get some stiff wire and bend it so that it will fit through the holes, and then bend it over.   The factory must have used a super-duper stapler to punch through those holes, I don't think it would be practical to try to find a similar tool. I do have a powerful air powered stapler, but it wouldn't get through that metal, at least on the Packards I've done this way.  I did luck out and find some staples that are the right size for the existing holes, maybe you will be so lucky too?
