Classic/Antique Car Repair: where to find parts to rebuild carb., stromberg carburetor, buick club of america

Question
Please help, need to find carb kit for a 1958 Buick Roadmaster V-8, I have tried all the local parts stores wit no luck

Answer
Your carburetor is probably a Rochester 4GC.  These were very popular carburetors in the 50s (my Packards use them for instance, and so do most of the larger GM cars).   I've never had a problem finding a kit that has the parts I need to rebuild one from NAPA, although they may not have the exact right kit your your exact car.

Any 4GC kit will have most of the parts you need, but if you want the exact right kit, I recommend you contact Jon Hargrove in Eldon MO.  His business name is "The Carburetor Shop". He is the best carburetor man in the country, and can supply you with a kit or rebuild your carburetor to like new performance.

If your car has the Stromberg carburetor, Jon is probably the only one who can help you.

Before you give up, contact the various Buick parts vendors listed by the Buick Club of America - someone may have the kits in stock.
