Dodge Repair: fuel pump, drb iii, chryslers

Question
QUESTION: The fuel pump quit on my 1995 Caravan.I installed a new one but still have problem. The pump does not come on when the ignition is on. I have checked the fuses and relay. Not getting power to the pump.

ANSWER: The fuel pump will only energize for two to three seconds and will turn off if the PCM does not see a valid RPM signal. Being that you have already replaced what was probably a good fuel pump because of poor diagnostics you may want to consider taking the van to a professional.

QUESTION: You were right, the pump was not the problem. I have checked the old pump and re installed the old pump. The fuses and relay are good and the pump and wiring are good. The pump is not energized for the initial 2 to 3 sec. when the ignition switch is turned on. And there is no spark on the ignition system. Could this be a bad PCM?

Answer
The only way to verify if the PCM is at fault would be at perform some diagnostics with Chryslers DRB III or another high end diagnostic tool. Simple code reader do not have the capabilities that those tools have. Save yourself some time and money, in the long run, and have a professional look at you vehicle.
