Question
QUESTION: I have a 2008 Dodge grand Caravan.  I had the alternator and battery tested at Autozone.  I was told the battery was good but the alternator was only putting out 1.9 amps.  I read one of your past answers that said dodge alternators don't put out constant amps.  is this low of out put normal?  Van was running and held around 2000 RPM's.

ANSWER: so what is the main prob to start with    was there a battery light that came on ?

QUESTION: Origionally I noticed the automatic locks seemed underpowered when the engine was off.  This lead me to checking the battery.  Only after the battery checked ok was it mentioned that the alternator was putting out very low amps.  Is 1.9 ams acceptable?

Answer
ok this is how a charging system works.    when the van is running it uses the alternator to power the van and charge up the battery. If there was an issue with the alt  the battery light would come on along with the check engine light.    Part 2 the alternator is not in use when the engine is off there for would have not a single thing to do with slow door locks when not running.
How did u check the battery out?  Did u drive it over there and then have them test it  or did u remove it after sitting over night then take it out to have them load test it then?
