Dodge Spirit 3l V6 1991
1:when reversing out a parking the car will not engage drive again and if it does it knocks into gear.
2:when travelling or from start of journey car will drop into 2nd gear and will not change until the car has sat for at least 5 mins but usually only when left parked over nite

The cars transmission is going into limp in mode . This is done when the trans computer finds a problem and shuts everything down.

It sounds like you may have to have the trans put on a computer to find out what codes are stored in the trans computer.
I hate to tell you but you may be rebuilding it soon
