Dodge Repair: 87 Dodge van/problem with AC, dodge van, ac unit

Question
Inherited an 87 Dodge van, V8. AC acting funny - does not blow when I press on gas. If I let off gas it blows. The vents shut down, when gas is applied - AC still runs, just doesn'st blow out the vents. This only started recently, when I first got van, it was fine. I know AC unit is new, replaced less than a year ago.

thanks

Answer
Big dave,

The problem is in the vacume system of the a/c
Check for a vacume leak in the hoses under the dash and also check the check valve at the brake booster.

The a/C runs the doors under the dash with vacume and if you loose vacume they will not blow out the vents (default to defrost)
The problem may be in the one way check valve located near the brake booster. you should be able to repair this for less then $20.00
