Ford Repair: 2010 Ford Fusion, ford fusion, optimal conditions

Question
I cranked my 2010 Fusion at lunch, and it tried for 4 seconds before I switched the key back off. I tried again and it cranked after maybe a 1 second delay. It's hot out, so not a cold-start issue. This is the first time it's done this. Also, I noticed I was able to let go of the key and it kept trying to crank on its own. I read somewhere this is called "auto-crank assist"??? Please help! I hope it's nothing serious!

Answer
no, this is normal, the vehicle will auto crank once the key is cycled and will continue to try to start until it see's optimal conditions.. ie.. fuel pressure, temperature, spark and so on- the car does the math- then it starts :)  keep in mind though, should the vehicle crank for more than 1- seconds and not start- either take it to your dealer or get back to me.. peace.. take care.. -b-
