Ford Repair: door adjar & Rear wiper motor, vechical, ford factory

Question
Sorry for the lack of info.  Vechical=2000 Ford Explorer AWD = 5.0L V-8.

the door adjar light is always on. i have lubricated the locks, closing hardware, etc.  I have checked the wires to the sensor and find that there is about 12V through the circut when door is closd and zero when open.I have checked the wires on all 4 doors, th lift gate and lift window with same results.  All looks OK yet light is still on.  Suggestions?

Rear wiper motor in not working any more.  This has just hapened and was working with the door ajar lights indicated.  I have removed the motor and when powered with 12V will move. When polarity is reversed, motor will run back the other way.  movement is not strong but confirmed.  When I check the power to the conector I do not get any voltage.  Wires for motor are orange/white and blue /black I believe.  I have checked all fuses in side dash panel and are OK.  Have checked all fuses under hood - OK.  Have switched out relays with AC relay and no differences - still no power to conector.  I have tried selector switch to different positions and no difference.  What else can I check or what am I missing?

Answer
You may need to find out if there are any codes in the GEM module or elsewhere. Both systems you are having problems with are controlled thru the GEM. A Ford factory scanner is the best for this, but some aftermarket scanners can give enough info to diagnose a problem.

The most common failures I have seen is a door ajar switch sticking. As far as rear wiper, the motors are notorious for sticking or complete failure. Remember when testing off car that when installed with a wiper blade on the glass, there is much more resistance affecting the motor operation.

One other thing: if I recall correctly, the rear wiper will not work if the liftgate or rear glass is ajar, this may be a clue to the cause of both problems.

You can pursue this any way you like, I never said you had to buy a scan tool. Any codes in those systems will aid in diagnosis. There are so many computer controlled parts of this vehicle it can be challenging to diagnose without a proper scantool, good luck!
