Ford Repair: Transmition/Clutch/Gearshift, clutch fluid, clutch assembly

Question
I have a 1985 four-speed Ford F150. The truck runs great besides one major drawback; it is terrible to shift, and its getting worse. It started out that just first gear that seemed impossible to shift to, but now I have to reef on it to get into second or third too. Is there anything I can do to fix this myself, or will I have to take it to a mechanic?

Answer
Make sure that it has clutch fluid in the reservoir. Other than that, you either need to replace the slave cylinder or the clutch assembly itself.
<Revise> Was the reservoir empty? If you have a friend depress the clutch with the wheels scotched, check to see if the slave cylinder rod is moving. If not, the slave is your culprit and the fix will be cheap.
