Ford Repair: Overheating, losing coolant, head gasket

Question
Hello, I have a 1996 Ford F150 XL 4.9 v6 inline engine. I recently had the radiator replaced because it had a leak and was causing the engine to overheat. After the replacement the truck kept overheating. We removed the thermostat and tried again but engine kept overheating. Next we removed the head and sent it out to have it shaved along with a valve job for the head was warped around cylinder 3. Put it all back together with a new head gasket and tried and after a 15 minute test drive again over heated. We are at a loss and the truck has been well kept with 113,000 miles. Now my friend thinks it maybe a cracked block. I can not continue to guess and invest money in this truck for I am unemployed and have been for the last 17 months but need my vehicle. Could you Please give me any ideas you can.
Thank you very much
Rob

Answer
No, "parts hanging" is never a good idea, and a quick way to lose interest in a vehicle. If it s indeed a cracked block, prove it. Find the water and oil mixture. Rent or buy a coolant pressure tester, to test for leaks. Are you losing coolant? If so, from where? Have you replaced the water pump?
