Ford Repair: Front end moan..., ford explorer 4x4, brake pads and rotors

Question
Hi,
2000 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0L.
I have been chasing a front end moan. First I was sure the wheel bearings/hubs were bad because these vehicles are known for that. Once I changed them, no difference. The brake pads and rotors are atleast 60% good and the tires are so so. The front axle is full of good looking fluid. While the front end was off the ground, I checked, but there was no play in anything. Everything is tight and looks good. The noise increases with speed, doesn't change because of braking. Parts swapping is becoming expensive. My last thoughts are either the tires are making that noise or the front axle might have an issue. Is there anything I can check for both of those? I could eliminate the tires if I could get all four wheels off the ground and run it. Thanks for your input.

Answer
it does get expensive guessing sometimes you might could save some money by having it checked out-did  you torque your bearings if not roar may not go away at all.

i would look at tires then i don't know of an axle causing a moan-they usually cause a clicking/popping when turning or vibration feeling no noise when accelerating but usually quit when you let off gas. good luck.
