Ford Repair: cold start problem, negative battery cable, mass airflow sensor

Question
Hi my name is David I have a 1988 Ford Mustang LX Automatic 8 cyc. When ever I start the car in the morning my idle goes up and then down like it wants to stall. Sometimes it actually stalls but most of the time it catches itself and wont. This only happens in the morning. I have already replaced the idle air control valve and the coolant sensor. Do you know what else it could be? Thank you for your help

Answer
first check for any vacuum leaks-remove mass airflow sensor from the air inlet and check the two filaments see if they are dirty if so you can clean them with brake cleaner-then clean your throttle bore real good-after that take off your negative battery cable wait 3-4 minutes then reconnect and go drive the car about fifteen miles with several stops on that roadtest. it will probably stall the first 3 or 4 times but should smooth out the more you drive it.
