Ford Repair: Map light and indoor light on, jam switches, ford taurus

Question
Hello Steve,
I am so sorry, I knew this is not your area but I need this fix before the battery is gone.

My Ford Taurus 97's map light and the light near the foot of the passenger side of the vehicle sometimes do not turn off when it seems that all the doors are closed (I always set it to "Door" setting). The indicator on the dashboard also says that one of the door is not closed, even when all of them are completely closed.
When we leave it for some time (about 2 hours), it would turn off by itself, and the problem would disappear for a while and normal again.  The problem then often returns within about a week or so. My friend said that one of your  door jamb switches has malfunctioned. Do you know where the door jam switches? If possible would you send me a picture where the location is.(I will give you my email address) I go around but I do not find it.
Please help me, I appreciate it. Thank you.

David

Answer
Hello David, There is a door ajar switch sticking on one of the door latches( 1 switch per latch including trunk. Try spraying rust penetrant into latches and shut doors several times. At times this will unstick the switch. It is usually the most common door used so spray Dr. frt door 1st. If not a test can be performed at a dealer to see which door switch is bad when the lites are on.  Hope this helps Thanks Tony
