Ford Repair: Transmission, automatic overdrive transmission, overdrive band

Question
I have a 2001 Ford F150 pickup drives along and transmission
acts like it goes into neutral. click overdrive button to off and everything is fine. The only time I have problem is when overdrive is on any advice

  The short and (not so) sweet answer is that your overdrive band is probably on it's way out.  This isn't really uncommon since the overdrive band is the weak link in any automatic overdrive transmission (especially if you're in the habit of towing things in overdrive).  It's not ridiculously expensive to have it replaced, but I would say it's exactly cheap either.  Hope this helps.
