Ford Repair: 89 festiva, blown head gasket, oil level

Question
I have a 89 festiva that seemed to be running fairly well until I took it up to 75mph for 2 one hour blocks (it usually is an in town car). the previous owner is an elderly woman and rarely drove it (77,000 miles on it). I tried to start it up the day after the trip and it sputtered out and died as i tried to reverse it.
Now, after starting it, it dies in park after about a minute. I don't have too much knowledge about the matter, but oil is splattered around the engine. I thought it might be a blown head gasket. Is it worth repairing and how much should i expect to pay? (as i am strapped for cash). any information would be great.

Answer
I'm sorry to admit that I don't know much about Festivas. If you have oil under the hood it does sound like something is leaking. How is the oil level? This engine may not have liked 75mph much. See if the coolant smells burnt, if so it probably overheated.

As far as costs, I have no idea. What is the car worth to you, enough to fix if needed?
