Ford Repair: low compression in one cyl. , ford small block, head gasket, ford 150

Question
Hi Steve,  This is a 92 ford 150 pick up that I got cheap knowing it had a problem. Cyl. #8  has very low compression. Other then taking the motor down do you know of a, I don't drive very much fix?  Dan

Answer
Dan-

Well...the problem is to fix it you first have to know what's wrong and there's really no way to know what's wrong without at least pulling the head off.  My guess is that the rings for the #8 cylinder are shot, but there's a slight chance it could have a slight head gasket hole.  Either way, once the engine's apart to diagnose the problem, you might as well fix it.  Hope this helps.
