Ford Repair: Escape not idling when cold, ford escape, fuel pressure

Question
I have a 2002 Ford Escape. Just this past week it started have difficulty idling in the mornings. When I turn it over, it will start and the shoot-up a little like normal and then it will drop off and die. It will continue to do this unless I hold the accelerator a little and let it warm up. I bought this vehicle new and have had it for a few years. I have never had trouble out of it before. Someone rear-ended me last week. There was some minor body and bumper damage. Could this be related? Any suggestions to fix it?
Thank you,
Tony

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you check a few things:
1. Check the computer system for fault codes.
2. Check the fuel pressure
3. Check the over all tune up condition of the engine....does it need one?
