Ford Repair: 2000 ford taurus SEC Brakes, rear shoes, ford taurus

Question
Erik,
My check brake light is going on, fluid is Ok, new brake pads and rear shoes were put on.  Before putting new brakes the light came on once, but I figured it was due to worn pads and shoes. Was off for awhile, but now all the time.  When the light is on my traction control and abs won't work.  The ABS light does not come on, Just the brake light.
Any help would be appreciated.
Norm

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I would suggest that you check the fluid level sensor, located in the master cylinder. See if it is floating or if it is submerged in the fluid. Also, see what happens when you disconnect the fluid level sensor electrical harness at the master cylinder......does the light go out? If it does, you'll need to replace the sensor.
Hope this helps,
Erik
