Ford Repair: 1998 Ford Explorer Sport problems, ford explorer sport, electrical fires

Question
Hello,
I have a few questions regarding my 1998 Ford Explorer Sport
(automatic V6). My truck has 105,000 miles on it, and I have just
replaced both lower and upper ball joints, rear brakes, and
shocks.
My question regards the electrical components of my car that
seem to fail. I have had a long list of specific electrical
happenings that seem to occur for many owners of this model.
My rear winshield wiper has hardly ever worked, even after the
motor is replaced by Ford 3 times. My front windshield wipers
move at their own random pace (fast when in the slow position,
for example), as well as just moving on their own when I am not
operating them. My headlights go out occasionally. My turn
signals do not always work when engaged. My drivers door has
locked me in, and I recieved a new actuator, but it has happened
on and off since then. The lights on my dash and wheel (cruise
control) do not all work, even after replacing the bulbs. I almost
always cannot get my washer fluid to come out. My horn beeps
on its own sometimes, even after being parked and off for 3-4
hours. I came out to my car one day and the headlights were on
(switch was in on position) - I turned them off, came back out an
hour later, and they were in "on" again. My radio display failed,
and had to be replaced with a non-ford radio. My fog lights do
not work, regardless of bulb replacement.
SO, with all of that said, I am beginning to be concerned. This
seems to be common amongst owners with this vehicle, but I
have heard nightmare stories about people with electrical
problems who have had electrical fires started after these
symptoms. Also, I am aware that there is possibly a problem
with the cruise control part burning through parts of the car. Are
these symptoms reflective of a problem like that? What else
could be causing all of these electrical issues?
I really appreciate any insight you can give me.
Thanks!

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
What you need to cure a few of these problems if not all of them is a good garage. I could tell you which parts are most common for being the cause of the problems, but with out checking them....I wouldn't feel right telling you to go out and just get parts.
You should bring it to a garage and have them look it over for ALL of your concerns.
